Hi, my name is Johnny Leary.
After dropping out of school at 17, I became a chippie. From there I became a registered builder and did everything from renovations to multi storey apartment blocks.
Over more than two decades I built a sizable residential portfolio. But even though things looked good on paper, I was always stressed about loan repayments and the other costs of holding property.
Then one day, I had a chance meeting with a very successful investor who has a $120-million portfolio — mostly industrial sheds. This person (who would become my mentor and friend) showed me a new and better way to build wealth through real estate by teaching me how to buy & add value to sheds.
Soon afterwards, I sold most of my residential portfolio and started down this path in my home town of Yarrawonga, Victoria.
Since then, I buy & add value to existing sheds and I also develop new shed projects — either steel or concrete, or a combination of the two.
What became my secret weapon is that my building & development skills have transferred perfectly to commercial property, and I've found a new passion for real estate again.
